Love is not fatal, though it can be
So can stepping out your front door
The difference, as should be plain to see
Is that love is needed so much more

Hate is fatal, the world is black
And can make us feel empty inside
Don't think for a moment if you take a step back
That it's cowardice to find a place to hide

Evil surrounds us, easy to tell
It covers the earth, makes good souls cry
The difference between the earth and Hell
Is that here we can make a difference if we try

Somedays everybody just wants to give up
To lie down, surrender, give in
To turn their back and hope it'll stop
To pretend that there is no sin

But backing away from all that we know
Not standing up after we get knocked down
Hiding away all the things we should show
Locking our truth behind a dark frown,

This we cannot allow

That which we love is our strength
Our crutch in our time of need
Our livesaving rope of an endless length
The time-old tree's first seed

Things are hard in the world
If you've lived true enough you know
But you can't do a thing to save anything
If you can't let the real you show

Leaning on loved ones is how we were made
Though sometimes we hate to do so
It's what makes us stronger, it's how we are saved
It's something that helps love grow

When the evil of this world crashes on you
And you fight a hopeless endeavor
The good in the world is something so true
Love, true love, of any who love, is forever
